| Apex Techie Wannabe | Alright....let me start off by saying that i have read the sticky above this for the N-Force 2 and it is very informative for someone who has never OC'd before, so thank you . Now...i followed what the guide said and i set it at 200x10. I saved the BIOS and exited....it brought up the screen sayin do not power off while BIOS is saving....then the screen went blank and my monitor went to standby. Now i assume this is because my system couldnt run w/ the new settings....but my question is why?? Here are my specs:NF7-S 2.1 AMD Corsair 1G TwinX (dual channel) 9800 Pro 120G Maxtor So i am just wondering what im missing. I only changed the Ext. Clock and the multiplier. TY for the assistance ![]() h_b | |

| It could your CPU has a locked multiplier and can't be changed, check the date it was made with CBID http://cbid.amdclub.ru/ Just reset the CMOS jumper (Should be next to the battery) and stick to raising the FSB untill you know if it's locked. | ||

so, i set the voltage after i had found the highest stable OC for my processor (180 x12 ) then i proceeded to try upping my memory. Now due to the fact that im stuck running on 56k (dont ask....its all we can get here, lol) i havent been able to get a benchmark prog on my PC. So i've had to settle w/ Battlefield 2 w/ gfx maxed to test on. Well....it was stable b4 the memory change (stable....just not pretty to watch, lol). First i upped mem to ur recomendation...but that wouldnt even start the game. So i lowered to aggressive next and that would work for bout 5 mins....then the game would freeze. I returned the mem settings to optimal and now i can play a whole game through no prob. So what im wondering is why can't i turn my mem up? i know it cant be the memory cus its a good speed and all. Just wondering if there is anything else i can do or if im stuck w/ my current results? Ty again,h_b | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Keep the timings at 3-3-3-8 when you turn up the FSB. Also, make sure that the RAM is running 1:1 with the FSB. I'm thinking that since the stock FSB is 166 (right?) and the RAM is already running at 200Mhz (DDR400), pushing the FSB to 200 is taking the RAM way too high for it's rating. | ||
