They are the same CPU as the desktop version other than name, it should perform exactly the same, other than it has more headroom to Overclock

Here is a 146 at over 3ghz with a DFI LP/SLI 6800U's

And yes, it plays BF-2 just fine

Ok... I did not vote in this Poll because.. well... hmm... (blush)... I'm not really "well informed"
as Opterons are concerned... If you folks know any good articles I should read up on... please
pm me the links!

I have no problems coming close to maxing out the details BF-2 with the pair of 6800U's at stock clocks and the Opteron at 2.0GHZ!

My problem is I only have 1GB of top of the line high speed RAM, when I first join a game it stutters badly for about 15-20seconds, and it takes along time for it to load the levels, even having a Raptor HD does not seem to help out here

My roomate has my old REV E 4000+ at OC'd to 2.6GHZ on a ASUS SLI board with 2GB of average performance memory and he loads nearly instantly, he's always first to the chopper!

But..he can't turn up the resolution and detail as far as I can, because he only has a single 6800GT.

If we OC his video card a bit, it does get rid of some of the occasional lag he gets when gameplay gets hot and heavy on a full server, increasing the CPU speed seems to have a very minor effect on his single video card too.

Bottom line, your video card will be the limiting factor for the "Eye Candy" not the CPU speed. And having a large quantity of "Slow" memory will make the game load faster than a small amount of high speed memory

OC'ing the video card, get 2GB of ram, possibly adding a second matching card... or even getting single 7800GTX will give you the gaming performace you crave, the CPU speed is nice, but anything over 2.4GHZ will generally do the trick..todays generation of games are almost entirely dependant on high end video cards and large amounts of RAM to get buttery smooth framerates with all the bells and whistles on

The 6800 should do a great job at medium to high settings and 1024x768, but don't expect to turn on AA or AF and run it smoothly at 1600x1200

If you are going to spend only $200 on your video card, I would recommend you pick up the Sapphire X800GTO2. It unlocks to X850XT (or XT PE speeds depending on luck), and still has overclocking headroom. They can score 6000+ in 3DMark05 no problem, and won't even hiccup when playing the newest games at mid-to-high level settings.

The reason it'll unlock like this is because it's an R480 core.
