Default newbie! help with overclocking

this is my first time trying to overclock and i dont know much about. right now i dotn want to unlock my cpu so all i can do is change my bus speed. i do this and over clock my amd 2700xp upto about 2.3 regaurdless of the actual speed i over clock it too,my computer will restared randomly and my benchmarks scores will go down when i test them out. i dont have a great heat sink but my cpu temps only go up about 10 degree even when overclocked and under load. im sure why this is happening. can any one help me

i have a gigabye ga-7vxp
amd 2700+
radeon 7500

my temps are usually

cpu 125F
case 78F

((1))
because of this, you shouldnt even be considering overclocking in the first place

((2))
WHICH bus speed would be greatly appreciated, cpu or ram, or for that matter, are you just raising your system clock and NOT expecting anything to go haywire?!

((3))
...is something that you are about to destroy, unless you take time to learn ON YOUR OWN what different BIOS settings do, not wait for someone to sit and step you through it, and the way it is sounding, you might not even be qualified to be there in the first place...no offense

((4))
see ((1))

((5))
something tells me you arent too "sure" about anything

((6))
not until you know enough to actually APPLY what we will tell you to do...

honestly, im not trying to run you off or piss you off, quite the opposite, i do want to help you and im sure alot of people here do to but us telling you what to do would be alot less fruitful than you actually learning what did it...for example, the reason your system is becoming so unstable after tweaking the supposed fsb, is rather likely that its your PSU (no indication of size or anything, point made here) but most likely because you are overclocking your ram in tandem...and possibly your pci and agp bus...and until you learn how and what and where to make the adjustments to THOSE settings, then your problem would be trivial...

want some answers to your problems, consult your motherboard manual and read it top to bottom on what the BIOS settings are, where they should be, and if that doesent satisfy you (and it shouldnt if you are serious about this), then get online and look for other resources about your BIOS, or PSU, or CPU, or AOL (lol).

once you have learned how to "drive"...we can then show you how to "race"
