s939 Mobo with AGP

I just bought a x850 Pro 256mb AGP card from best buy this last week and i am wanting to go the opteron route, there is a local shop here that has a 146 that i am going to buy, but i dont want to change my Vid card. What board out there is the best bang for the buck to get me a decent OC but allow me to have my old technology AGP card...

Was wanting something Nforce related... does the VIA chipset clock as well as the Nvidia?

You might not be able to get those 3.0 Ghz + OC's out of it, but it'll still do pretty good. The VIA chipsets aren't as bad as you might think. They're suprisingly fast. Just make sure you lock the PCI bus speed when you overclock, since they aren't by default.

you have to remember back when i was a OC madman the NF2 and the Intel 875 were king. VIA wasn't even a contender. Been out of it a awhile and have to relearn it all again. I just placed the order on newegg for that board that Digi recomended... see what it can do.

GA -K8NS 939 Ultra, with the latest BIOS (v9 or 10 i believe) does very well

Nforce 3 board too btw..

I also just bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128286 this board It is Nforce3 and has AGP. Does anyone know of the OC potential of the s939 Nf3 boards? i want to see that magic 3k mark with this chip. I have the Venus Opty 146. looks pretty

Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939 and i am going to flash it to the K8NSNXP 939 19/10 F12 bios i guess it helps with HTT... I am such a n00b to 64bit...

It seems most premium NF-4 boards can break that 300FSB barrier with the right bios tweeks, a buddy of mine just hit like 380+ on his ASUS last night, that got my attention

I guess I will have to now add Gigabyte to that list

i will have everything else (boards (bought 2 gigas and that asus) and another 74gb raptor) tomarrow. i want 3.0 by wendsday night. anyway, i am at Digi's now, talk to you later.

Well i got everthing running lastnight. raided 74gb raptors, opty 146 that gigabyte board, 850pro flashed to xt-pe, 1gb samsung tccc 3200 650 enermax psu, 16x dvdrw, 200gb wd PATA, and a cheap case. it will not reconize it as a opty, wont overclock for crap... i have a cab2e opty. anyone have any ideas...

I got too depressed over the Christmas Holiday to travel, so I won't be down for a while, sorry.

I take it there isn't a new Bios that will recognise the Opty?
