Newer Athlon 64's have a built in voltage limiter to "prevent damage". You have to force the voltage on it by using a voltage setting other than "Startup vCore setting" or whatever it's called. What are all of the voltage options available to you in your BIOS?

I was digging around on the DFI forums, and i found a thread that might be of help here. It sounds like there are more threads that discuss the problem, and i'll post links to them if i find them.
I'm using the nF3 250 GB, but i've never run across the problem that you are having...on a side note, though: while i was looking for info on your problem, i found a thread that told me how to get my mic-in to work (finally! i thought that i just had a bum port)

EDIT
Ok, found another thread that goes into a bit more detail here. Hope something in there helps you.

There are answers...both threads have multiple suggestions for getting around the problem. Don't give up, start with the second link that i posted and read through the suggestions. Then, just try one at a time until you find what works.

The easiest one that i saw listed was to save and exit your bios, then re-enter the bios (before comp boots into the OS) and save and exit again...do this for a total of 2-3 times before you let the computer boot into the OS. It seems to work for some folks. Take your time and try not to get frustrated...i'll keep my fingers crossed for ya

Ive tried all of the above for the last 2 days, Ive tried 15 diff bios's from first to the newest one and from the newest one back to the first, Modded bios's from tic tac ,oskerhu or whatever, And even tried joe blows bios! lol... I even have gone to the far and put a Nforce 4 bios on and took the chip out and put it in a NF4 board and reflashed it back to the newest NF3 bios out!

Ive tried everything! Maybe ill just have to Hard mod the cpu ram and chipset... If anyone has any links or anything to do the hard mods pls let me know! thanks

Matt

Instead of 1.55v and 10% try 1.5v and 20% or something like that, have you tried another PSU?

Other than that I got nothing..RMA time?

Damn, when I had that problem I just didn't hit the enter key. I used the plus or minus to change the voltage then when I got what I wanted, tabbed and F10 to reboot.

What he's trying to say, is that, are you properly saving your settings?

The BIOS on my friends MSI K8N neo 2 platinum was odd like that too.
