With the current hardware that I have chosen It will cost me about 714 before shipping.. Whatever processor I get, I will overclock it... So would the hardward I have chosen work with each other? Is this the best bang for my buck? So thats why I'm here.. So you fellow pimps can help me out.

| I have a retail Ultra D for sale for 25 bucks more shipped. Its brand new never opened or used. With this you get a brand new board not a refurbished one and it also come with all the cool cables and all the extra bells and whistles. The system looks pretty good. Good luck hope u get a good stepping. | ||

| I wouldn't pick up the X-Connect PSU. I would get an equivalent-priced Antec. For the RAM, i'm not too sure about Geil. All of the RAM i've ever owned from them (3 different sticks) never seemed to want to work at DDR400 when paired together. I would recommend OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill, Patriot, or Kingston instead. The $115 OCZ Performance series RAM i'm using overclock pretty good (DDR433 @ 2-2-7-2 at only 2.8v, dual F@H stable 24/7 since i'm a dual core user). | ||

why not the x-connect? 4 of my friends own the one i would be getting and its really good... And as far as I know and have expirenced geil memory works great... If you can find some equivilent memory or even better memory for around the same price Im more then intrested. ![]()

I've seen reviews where they put it's rated 500W load on it, and it blew up in a matter of minutes. I've also got one in a computer I built for my parents, and it is randomly restarting. I'm 99.999% sure it's the PSU. Plus, the voltages aren't too accurate. For RAM, take a look at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227211 It's OCZ Gold DDR400...but it uses BH5 RAM. This stuff will overlock like mad, while running tight timings, with enough voltage. Since you are getting a DFI Lanparty board, this is very attainable. You'd run, say, 3.2v or so, and it'll run DDR500 no problem. This RAM was also reviewed here on PR, and they got it to 258Mhz with 2-2-2-5 timings. Yikes!

Yea hes right on both of them. BTW I have that ram and i do 258MHz at 2-2-2-2 at 3.2 v.

Those are some excellent choices there...I always forget about OCZ's power supplies. I should really get that Zalman 9500, and see if it works any better in my rig, before I go with water cooling. This 2.6Ghz OC is plenty fast, it's just running at the limits of temperature (avg 48 full load with 2 instances of F@H). Also, that 6800GS is a damn good deal. It's as fast as a 6800GT for $100 less.

Ok so your gonna spend all this money on a new rig and your gonna spend next to nothing on a PSU. Get a name brand like Antec, OCZ, or PC Power and Cooling. I have seen many cheap generic PSUs fail. I just saw a thread a couple days ago about the Ultras often failing. I also saw a thread today about one failing. Its your money and your choice but dont come crying to us if you burn up your whole system with that Ultra

| Here is one of the best power supplies you can possibly buy for under $100: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103940 It's the Antec NeoHE 500W. It's got THREE (yes THREE) 12v rails. It also has modular connectors. It's 500W rating is tested at 50 degrees C, which is a typical temp inside pretty much all computers' PSU's, so you know what you are getting. I've got the 550W version, and the voltages are the most accurate and stable i've ever used. My BIOS reports 11.96v on the 12v rails. You have to understand something when you build a computer...the PSU is one of the most important parts for stability. *EDIT* BWAHAHAHAHAH....666 posts. ![]() | ||

I knew that.. and I read a bunch of reviews and such aswell as first hand knowledge of the stability of the xconnect.. that antec does look like it would be a nice psu however I will also be doing alot of case modding etc, so I need one that not only works good but looks good aswell.. so if that antec comes in uv green ill be one happy man ![]()

| Apex Techie Lite | The last time I paid over $100 for a PSU it came with a case, Antec 1080II (or somesuch). This time I had to catch up to ATX 2.0 and didn't want to screw it up with a $50 PSU, so I checked all the threads I could find (like on dfi-street) and bought one with a better finish than my Ford. | |

| David Im going to agree with everyone on the XConnect. I have that is a year old and it is acting kinda strange. Big power drops all of a sudden. I went out and bout an OCZ Modstream at Compusa for $119.00 with a $20 dollar rebate. Its a nice Chrome finish and has modular cables except for the ATX and P4 cables. One big 120mm blue led fan in the bottom. The reat of the system seems sweet to me. If you have a mid tower or smaller the xconnect cables would be a pain in the butt to rout also. | ||
