| my barton humms at 2300 mhz, though i finally got the prob figured out with it not hitting over 2.4ghz, not enough psu power to drive the vid card and the OC so a newer psu is in order and then i know it will easy hit 2475 since i did it this morning. 230fsb or 225 x 10.5 or 11 even me thinks itll go higher i just need more power that geil if it is pc3200 it should start at 200mhz. drop the multiplier and set the fsb at auto it should start at 200mhz. if not try setting the fsb manually to 200mhz and the multiplier at 8. post to windows and see what happens. it should work. but most 3200 mem hates being in the 190 range of fsb. and i know geil mem can do better than 200 since thats stock. best way to get an initial idea of what is needed and whats your best fsb is to lower the multiplier to like 8 then slowly crank up the fsb til you hit the wall where winblows doesnt load. then drop it about 5mhz and run it a while to check stablility after that then slowly raise the multiplier until the same thing happens. then up the voltage to the vcore one or two units and try again. that will ge you the base numbers to use. If nothing you try will help then repost and planet or necro can take another shot. i can help somewhat but im on an epox mobo so the abit bios are a bit foreign to me. | Your problem is poor cooling, and not enough voltage.. You will need 1.8v+ for 200fsb and up... You might can run 1.9v for 200x12(2.4ghz), all day stable if you have a better cooler, I'd suggest a Zalman 7000B-Cu.. or a Thermalright heatsink compatible with your processor. | ||

| That CPU should be unlocked, so if you have decent DDR 400, there is no reason not to use it 1 to 1. Here are few general sugestions that you can try. Now you will have to get a bit familiar with the Bios... set the ram ratio to either 6/6 or 5/5, either will give you 1 to1 (Abit bios is funny that way) Then you need to change the multiplier to 11x Set the FSB to 200 Memory voltage to 2.8 or 2.9 Chipset voltage 1.7 to 1.8v memory Timings CAS 2-2-2-11 for BH-5 (Or similar Low Latency memory) Or Cas 2.5-3-3-6 or CAS 3-4-4-8 for most other memory. CPU voltage range should be in the 1.7v to 1.8v range with average to decent air cooling. This wiil give you a baseline of 2.2GHZ, you can raise the FSB up to around 210 to 220 to finish off your OC. Use Folding@Home or Prime 95 after each change to test for stability. Most desktop Athlon XP chips of your variety can run in the 2300-2350MHZ range, a good one may do better. ![]() Check this thread for more info. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread.php?t=13000 | ||
