tbred-b 2100+ vs. barton 2500+

what is a better chip for overclocking on average??? tbred-b 2100+ or the 2500+ barton??? i ve heard that the 2100+ is the best tbred but how does it compare to the abilities of the 2500+

ive heard from several sources that the most 2100 tbred-b's can get up to 2.3 ghz.... i dont know very much about bartons but ive read that they can oc pretty high.... but are the chances of getting a barton that can beat 2.3 ghz better or worse than the 2100, assuming there is sufficient cooling.....

I've been having the same question plaguing me...So thanks for asking.
I'm soon planning to buy one or the other myself. Unfortunately I dont have the answers, so I'll be watching this thread with ya...lol

justinvalencia - Although the Tbred "B" core has better overclocking potential, the Barton is the way to go for its higher L2 cache and 333MHz FSB.
But if money is a concern, the 2100+ "B" cores are quite a steal, I got mine for $102, they currently go for $87 @ Newegg.com

If I were looking at getting a Barton, I would read this article...

Made me start thinking about getting a tbred 2600+ 333 instead of the Barton 2500+

Also, if you look at this article, it will give you a pretty decent idea of what they "can" OC to.

Notice that the 2600+ they are running in this match is running at a 2X133 fsb and not a 2X166 fsb. There are two versions, a 266(2X133) and a 333(2X166).

i dont have enough money for a 2600

so far im leaning towards the 2100+

Thanx for the links Feral..

I've been leaning towards the 2100 for price reasons, and the good reviews I've seen on its OC possibilities.

Right now I have a 1700 here that I'm going to use for now when i get my mobo. I've even seen some good articles on it too.

ps Feral...You ever decide to ditch that old 200fsb Athlon 1.4 keep me in mind...I still have that old rig in the kids room that wants it...lol
