| Im going to build a new rig in about 2 months so Ive been planning. I know I want to go 64 and I watercooled. I have a case in mind that will be able to hold anything I throw at it. its the UFO-2 from mountainmods.com Im just looking around for someone tring to sell theirs because I dont want to spend $400 on a case. My watercooling setup looks like it will be something like Dual heater core with shroud DangerDen TDX DangerDen NV-68 or Maze 4 GPU Danger Den D4 pump Criticool WaterPlant Two Titan 120mm fans 10 feet of clearflex tubing The cpu im unsure of because it seems like really big jumps in price and im not sure if I want to pay that much. For example
Since Im not sure which CPU Im getting (I need help deciding) Im not sure which Motherboard to get but Im considering the DFI LanParty or a Gigabyte board. This is to be determined by the CPU Memory im thinking Corsair DDR2...is it worth it? Video Card GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB although it is expensive I have heard good things about it, either that or a ATI X900 Thats about it, I just need some opinions or testimonies of some of the products I listed. either good or bad. Thanks

| You already know what I think about the cooling.... As for the chip and mobo, I would get the DFI ultra D and 3500+ seems to be the best performance for the buck. If that's too much you can get the 3200+ which is also a great chip. Just keep it in your budget. By going with a slower CPU you can get better components (video card, mobo, cooling, etc...) then get a better cpu when the prices drop. Good luck bro! EDIT: The motherboards your looking at don't except DDR2 so look for some nice DDR. Scope out gSkill and look at there memory with TCCD chips. They are a good price and they have great timings. | ||

| Welkomen da PimpRig-en ![]() Wow the water cooling choice you have there is pretty slick. some good performance levels would be seens from some good DDR500 - Corsair or Crucial Balistix should be taken into consideration there. Also, theres isnt an actual card called the X900 in ATIs range yet. The X850 "rocket fumes" is the fastest, and hotest you can get. I recommend nVidia's 6800GT/Ultra because of the stock cooling you get and also because I like them too. For processor, the Winchester 3000/3200 can scale up massively, and the 3800, according to $olid is also literally "solid" . The DFI boards should be where youe eyes are set...they can pull off great performance, and we have some highly skilled members who swear by them. | ||

| Well can anyone who swears by the DFI boards tell me about them and maybee their price? I found another good board the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard for 174.99 shiped (it had nForce4 and tons of features). I cant seem to find that much on the DFI boards tho. Im tring to get best performace with least cost...Well i guess everyone is doing that. So Im still stumped on a CPU Im thinking a 3200+. Anyone know how much of an OC I can get? I want a minimum of 3.0GHz. Also is NewCastle better than ClawHammer? Whats the difference? Nev_Payne I agree with you about nVidia, I have had the Radeon 9700 Pro and a couple of GeForce cards and I seem to like them better. Anyone actually have the 6800 Ultra w/ 256MB? And whats the PCI/E that jacks up the price on those cards? 398.37 with shipping for that card. But read this http://www.bit-tech.net/review/394 Links: mobo - http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...e=pricegrabber cpu- http://www.pricegrabber.com/search.p...2B&topcat_id=1 - http://www.pricewatch.com/ video card -http://www.xpcgear.com/evga6800ultra.html Thats a bunch of money once I added it up. I think Im going to check ebay and other forums to see if anyone is selling any of that stuff. SPECIALBLEND218 I feel bad cause Im copying youre WC setup...oh well EDIT Is this the DFI mobo everyone likes? http://www.dfi.com.tw/Product/xx_pro...YPE=LP&SITE=US Last edited by BrokeEnthusiast; 24-March-05 at 03:35 PM.. | ||

| Here is the motherboard I like: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...136-152&depa=1 As for the setup, if it's getting over your budget I recommend this card:http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...164-041&depa=1 I just bought that mobo, video card, 3000+ and Im getting some great scores in the benchies at stock (haven't had anytime in OC'ing it yet, keyword being yet ). I would also look at getting a good power supply since the new 939 setups really hog the juice at times. I think you would be happy with the 3200+ winchester core. They OC really good, and there not too pricy either. I'm sure Solid will see this post tonight and he could tell you all the little details about the cores and such. He is on a DFI board too and loves it.
it's better then buying a bad setup though...

| Just found this, it helped a lot: http://www.bit-tech.net/review/394/9 Also the question everyone is asking... ATi or nVidia I hear they have their strgenths and weaknesses. I dont know which one tho.... Once I decide that Im going to start shopping around for prices Last edited by BrokeEnthusiast; 24-March-05 at 08:18 PM.. | ||

| I have had my x800xl for a week and I love it, way better then my buggy 6800. But choosing between the two is more about personal choice of which one you think is better. I would mainly look at the benchmarks and see which card performs the best that is in your price range. | ||

| Can you send me some pictures of youre case now that its finished? Im still tring to decide on the Twice7 (14x14x14) or the U2-UFO(18x18x18) How do you like it as far as size, to big? (I need help finding a deal on one like you did) As far as video cards, after you OC them which is better, and what are youre benches (it seems like this is just a convo between Specialblend and me... please people post) | ||

really? undervolting? well can't say mine has that problem. its always above or equal to the right voltage, give or take 5%. but mine's one of the earlier models . . . I heard the new ones are having some probs like that. shame, shame damn good PSU.

| the 3200 for 175 seems like a good deal to me. I wouldnt pay almost $100 more for a 3500. it only gains you a 200mhz higher speed. you probably wouldnt hardly notice the difference. When I got my p4 3.2, i could have gotten the 3.4 but it would have cost me 100 bucks extra so i said screw it. My 3.2 is plenty fast. | ||
