| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hey guys I need help! I got an MSI kt6v mobo with an AXP 3200+ in it. It runs everything great I play Doom3, Far Cry, Call of duty....you name it, I can run it. My problem is this. The CPU is suppose to run at 2.2Ghz and I running it at 1.199Ghz. I know what your going to say just change the default fsb from 100 to 200 right. Well that don't cut it I get lock up and the BSOD. Right now I'm using a utility that came with the mobo to boost my fsb 1 Mhz at a time. I'm at 109 now. I bump it up one more every hour or two. Any suggestion or anyone ever had this problem? P.S. other specs ATI 9600 xt 768mb ram windows 2000 all the latest and greatest drivers too | |

| Hey intrigueme, maybe what you need is a BIOS update. What version do you have? EDIT: It looks like version 2.0 adds support for Barton 3200+ processors. Maybe that's your problem. Link to the BIOS download page here Last edited by AltoNova1; 08-March-05 at 09:43 PM.. Reason: Add in link | ||

He cant raise the multi. Its locked the 3200 is a Barton chip. Running at 200fsb with a mutli of 11. Try to reset the cmos. It looks like you have a setting wrong. I dont know off the top of my head what the voltage for it should be at. But i know the FSB should be at 200mhz and the multi at 11. Go into the bios and change theses settings. The reason you get the BSOD with raising it is not enough voltage. Reset the CMOS by popping the battery out or switching the CMOS jumper. This should fix any problems with the processor running underclocked. Good Luck. Shoot me a message on AIM or MSN after 3 if you have any problems. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Guys I think I figured this out. I think its my ram. I went to the MSI website and read up on bios settings. The factory defaults are for an Athlon 1500+. There's a BIOS option to load High performance settings but according to MSI this will tight up the memory timings and other things. They only recommend the high performance settings for a high performance rig. Here's a quote: MSI Reminds You... The option is for power or overclocking users only. Use of high performance defaults will tighten most timings to increase the system performance. Therefore, a high-end system configuration is a must, which means you need high-quality VGA adapter, RAM and so on. We don’t recommend that users should apply the high performance defaults in their regular systems. Otherwise, the system may become unstable or even crash. If the system crashes or hangs after enabling the feature, please CLEAR CMOS DATA to resolve the problem. For more information, refer to “Clear CMOS Jumper:JBAT1†in Chapter 2. The only thing I'm lacking is high quality RAM. Anybody got suggestions on what to get? I know very little about CAS but I know that 2-2-2-5 is the best right? What is alright for what I need? | |

| As long as I have this right, your first problem is that you can't get the system to run at the rated speed. So, default settings for your components are fine for now right ? If so, follow the suggestion to set your CPU at 200 x 11 and set your DRAM to SPD. This is an auto setting. The BIOS will read a PLL chip on the ram module that's in the first slot and set the correct factory timings. Don't set it up for the performance setting until you get everything running the way it's supposed to. This should get you running at stock speeds and put everyone here on the same sheet of music. Forget about the VCore for now, just leave it at default/auto. | ||

| I second what Icpiper and the others said. Put the FSB at 200, and the Multi at 11(it's probably locked anyways). I wouldn't bother messing with memory timings just yet, leave that at auto. Then your system will be running at 200x11(2200mhz) which is the default for that cpu. | ||
