Default Finally??? A64

Well i finally got my athlon 64 up and running after two days ok playing with this DFI LP UT 250Gb .... AHHHRR There are soooooo many options in this bios its crazy.... Well i just stated to overclock it and i cant seem to push it higher then 225 with the LTD set at 4x... I wont run prime95 for more then about 5 mins and i get the blue screen of death... at 220 LTD at 4x and voltage at 1.550 and vid special at 110% i have it stable at 2.62Ghz I think the Vcore is at 1.664? My temps are in the low low 30's on my temp probe.. this thing stays soooooo cool.. But what is a safe Vcore i should try out? what is the highest i should try.. IM running a ThermalRight XP 90 with a 92Mm torando.

And since im running Raid - 0 with my raptors im already on Sata 3 and 4... Help me out guys... Im also running HyperX at 2.5-3-3-10... At 220... I have had this ram on my AN7 at 225 Ext clock at 2.5-3-2-11... So i know it will take the overclock... Im just hitting the wall and i dont know what to do. LOL

If memory serves me correctly, the cut off range on the multiplication is 1000 (LDT x FSB). You should still be in the safe range, but you can try cutting your LDT back to 3. I'm sure Necro will be sounding off on this, but that should be a basic start. I'm in the same boat as you, but I've had that much pounded in my head so far . Good luck with the OC. Will be up there with you as soon as my replacement RAM gets in and I get used to the BIOS (man there are a lot of settings).

Also, try setting your CPU multiplier to 10x or lower to find your cap.

Oskar Wu's BIOS

WinFlash

Hope it works out for you.

For liability sakes.. I am including the following legal mumbo-jumbo.

Note: Neither I nor the makers of these programs take responsibility for any damages resulting from the use of these programs.

Also, you might want to check out Necro's thread on A64 OC'n

I was told running the HTT past 1600 would actually decrease performance of the CPU... Right now im running at 220Fsb LTD at 4x Multi at 12.. @ 1.550Vcore and 110% Vid!

So right now my HTT is 1760 is this bad? What is a safe ponit if this is even true?

And what is a safe Vcore voltage? I know they arent like bartys ive had my barty at 2.2V on my air cooling LOL ... I havent took this 3400+ past 1.7 yet.

Thanks pimps for all the time.

I have the same board and cpu, and the best advice I can give you is to flash your bios, and make use of this program http://www.thelab.gr/printthread.php?threadid=4824, just scroll down and look for A64MemFreq 1.1
It's a great little tool where you can plug in your HTT and multiplier and memory divider and it will show you how fast your memory is running. Since my memory isn't as overclocking friendly as yours I can't really tell you what voltage settings will work best for you, but I can tell you that sometimes it's better to run your HTT and multi at a lower setting in order to up your memory frequency. You probably already know that, but I just thought it was worth mentioning.

Max HT bus speed should be at or below 800 (minimum 600) on these boards. We need to be careful here to make sure that this is the HT bus speed and not the DDR related value that include a multiplier of 2. You might well be including that since you quote 1600. Anyway I'm not including the factor of 2.

At some point above 800 communication on the bus begins generating errors and you take a performance hit if not the BSOD as the system resends info. High speeds don't produce high payoff for the HT bus since it "tunnels" down to the peripherals which are slow anyway.

Newer boards and CPUs are going to a max of 1000.

Well said, I was about to sound off too.

x4 should be fine as it is only 880mhz @ 220fsb. You could try x3 though, for troubleshooting. I would also try a memory divider. Can you increase the chipset voltage any on that board?
