| Hey guys,I have always been one to tinker with things.I have been dabbiling in Oc for about 3 years because I also was a dumbass and tinkered with my 12 gauge and blew my leg off .So hobbies have changed to say the least.I have been reading these Posts on here and there the best by far.I need some idea's ..I have a Athlon64 3000+Winchester and I am running an Abit Av8 the board was a gift for X-mas.I have managed to Oc my 64 to 2747 Gz.I am running it at 1.5 Volts and my DDR is hacked down big time. There Kingston 400 and they dont top out that high.I can push it stable to about 235Mz running 2.70 Volts..My Temps have stayed right at 41c and I am also running it on just Air cool.Do any of you guys have any sugestions?I am new to these Forums so bear with me.What are the normal OC for these winchesters?I know its not my P.S I have a Pc Power 500+.I have it saveed on Cpu-z but its in File need help there also? Thanks V | ||

| Welcome to PR. Try to keep language under the PG13 level, A$$ is somtimes considered bad....try to hide it like I have (not in the literal sence ).2.7GHz on a 3000 Winny core deserves an appaulse personally, I htink youve managed a great job reaching that high. Can you get some CPU-z screenshots for us to have a lcoser look? just the RAM and CPU screens is fine. Youll get bling from me just form getting an overclock that big. DDR400 will prolly have to be upped to somthing a bit beefier, DDR500 maybe overkill but worht heat heat wise and stability. My fellow compodraes will recoomend somthing more precise I'm sure. Have good look around dude, i'm sure you'll fit in well here, especially with an OC of that scale. oh yeh... and GET FOLDING! ![]() | ||

| Decent overclock for an 3000+ 90 nm My guess is you got your ram in a low ram ratio like 3/4 runing a 305 FSB with the stock 9 Multi. So, you can go higher but you are going to need to dump dual channel to reach 2.8+ Even if you run some other ram like Gskill or OCZ PC-4200 El Plat. in a 1.1 it would still be stoping in dual channel at around what you got with air cooling. Just try it. Take out one stick of your ram and go higher. Really performance is not too bad effected benching using singel channel vs dual channel. Plus, your ram can go alot higher in single channel as well. But if you got it to run over 2.7 stable during all games and benches then I would say unless you are going for some kind of a goal (like over 12,600 in Sandra to screw stock FX-55 owners) keep in dual channel like you got it. When I was overclock I got it too 2.82 (max 2.86) at a Vcore of 1.652. At that it hit windows and benched for me. Laying some great score as well. So try it out. And it looks like that Abit boad is a nice board. I did mine using ASUS AG8-SLI board. Last edited by SpikeShot; 26-February-05 at 08:18 PM.. | ||

Thanks for the tips. Now how do I save the Cpu-z so I can post it?I have tried and tried but I am doing something wrong..I do have this though::
This is What I am trying to change to just the Icon..I was thinking about doing a homemade Phase-change system.Do you think it would be worth it?..Thanks WES | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| A homemade phase change rig would not really be worth it with a 3000+, but with something with a 10 multi or better (the 3500+ is the best here for price/overclocking with phase). But if your mobo with run well past 350 FSB then I guess you ca guive it a try. I know when Zenn sends my phase unit to me I am gona have to solder a line to a cap. and the chipset vcore pin to raise my max FSB past 350 on my ASUS board. And I also plan on geting a higher multi chip. Just be happy with your stuff. | ||
