Motherboard issues with 2500+ mobile

trying to overclock the following two setups:

MSI KM4M-V (NF2 chipset) and AMD Athlon 2500+ XP mobile

Chaintech 7NJL6(also NF2) also the same CPU.

the poblem with both boards is tat though they say they support overclocking, they lack any means of adjusting the multiplier.

The chaintech I can get a 200mhz fsb with no prob, but the fastest i can gt the chip with no multiplier adjustment is 1.2 ghz.

The MSI will only reach a 166 FSB, and the fastest it will go is 1 ghz.

is there a means of changing the multiplier.

Neither of these setups is mine. HAR!

I use the sme chip on an ASUS

The multi is locked on the new Bartons, also...get a NF7-S

All the underlined green crap, guess I didnt notice "mobile[U]"

ya i know all to well about locked CPU's

i have one myself, if you feel brave you could always mod the pins on the back of the motherboard to unlock it

well thats if you choose to!

Guys he has a Mobiles. There not locked.. Tycoon had me all messed up there for a min.

I dont know about them boards but alot of people run 2500M's here with Abits nf7 and an7's give them a shot.. Im sure someone will be along that has one of them boards

A mobile barton is not locked. He is saying those motherboards lack multiplier adjustment features in the BIOS.

Are you sure there are no multiplier adjustments? Try to look for a review on those boards. Did you read the manual all the way through?

As well as reading vything i an find about both boards.

Their bios are not very conducive to ease, I much prefer the bio on MY ASUS board(which i put the same CPU on, and an at 2.3 out of the box, and have since bumped up to 2.4 with no RAM adjustmnts, and it run at a cool 47C under load with a copper heatsink an 120mm fan)

check out the manual and see if theres some jumpers on the board that force the chip to use an 11x multi or a 12x

mostly bragging about MY 2500+mobile, as well as my ASUS board.

So, there is little point in rephrasing.

However, the Chaintech board, having a NF2 chipset sems compatable with Clockgen, so whn i get home, I will try that. The MSI board is not supported
