| I just took my usual trip over to Anandtech.com and saw this as a new review. It is the new DFI board that everyone has been talking about. So go ahead and read it so we can disscuss it. preview for ya...DDR630 with a 1T command rate! | ||

| One thing about most reviews, they don't realy try and push them too hard, kind of what you can expect out of the box performance. They don't mod the bios or realy try anything out of the ordinary. Ima' have me one of these soon as they start stocking em online, I'm betting a 700FSB club will pop up around here... Whos in? ![]() | ||

| You make a great point in the fact that reviewers really can't do that because if they tell people they got a AMD 4000+ to 4.0 gigs and no one else could it would hurt their rep. more than help them with traffic and all from the review. Still, this board is looking good SOLID> I can't wait till Gk gets it in! And you too(SOLID)...don't think I am not going to expect updates now! I haev LOVED my ASUS A8N-SLI board to death. And I should have it back end of next week hopefully. If all goes through fine I may buy CPU Killers 3500+ in a month or 2 and then use Zenn's phase cooler to get to 3.0 gigs or whatever she stops at...hopefully 3.25+ Hey Solid, you think a 3000+ (1.8 gigs stock, 90 nm) at 3.0 gigs would be something to brag about? The FSB would be past 335+. You know anyone who has done it yet? I don't want to place any really money here...but since I got the 3000+ to 2.82 benchable on air I think another 200 should not be to hard with phase. Come to think of it...heat was never really holding me back in the first place. it was my freeking 310 FSB on my SATA and ram. Ahhh...I am gona use GK's PC-4400 and see if I can get past this (if he still will let me that is ). Would be cool to do FSB-335 with DDR610ish ram. Lord! And I just volt modded my X/800 XT (still working on the clocks, over 600 on core and ram though) so I am about to set a new standard here. I say standard because you and CPU Killer look to be the uber pimps here... O and I forgot all about my 3.0 gig P.4 "E" CPU. With phase and a IDE Hardrive i bet I could get 4.5 easy. Well at least I will have Elite scores with the Intel! P.S Solid you like the new colors in my sig. and avatar? I had my girlfriend mess around with them (yes she is very good at PS, go me!)...I was just geting sick of the older colors! Last edited by SpikeShot; 02-February-05 at 09:26 PM.. | ||

| Hmmm..... Being a member of the 700HTT club would be nice. I think I will send in my application and see if they will have me. The DFI NF4-SLI mobos are going to be tough to beat (for awhile anyway) I don't think I will be hittin 4Ghz, but I will be givin 3Ghz all kinds of hell. Got my Chrome DD blocks all shined up all the parts are in collecting dust on the desk. Just need the time to play, that and I am waiting on my custom case. I will abide my time and come in with some BIG clocks and scores to cry over..... Hope to see lots of PIMPs getting into the 700HTT club. I will get some case badges made up if there are enough PIMPs getting in. Or maybe a custom lazer etched top for their waterblock... assuming you have a DD block that is.... either way there will be something to show for all the $$$ and time spent to get 700HTT stable. Maybe Solid will help out with the rules & regs with this???? Until later ![]() | ||

The ASUS revision 2 of the A8N-SLI board is going to be a much better overclocker I have heard from my ASUS rep./ friend. And since it already is a good overclocker, I mean I got an AMD 3000+ to over 2.8 on air and most people seem to hit a wall at 2.745 gigs., so its something else to look forward to. They have added more voltages and what not, and fixed some SLI bugs. Should give DFI a run for their money. But, they don't expect this board to be out for a lttle while.

SPIKE- I have seen 9x300 from 3000+ winnies on air, so it might be doable on phase. You can always run a mem divider to see the max FSB of your board BTW... 1 to 1 with Crucial Ballistix was unstable much over 300FSB on the DFI LP I sent to Zenn, but I tested it up to 320FSB with mem dividers...might have been more in it, but without 1to1 performance suffers, just fun to watch it climb! (It was hard to find memory that ran over 300FSB then, TCCD still didnt have the brainpower PCB's out in force yet) Nice Photochop touch up.. lucky dog to have a girlfriend like that! CPU Killer- "Badges? we don't need no stinking badges!" LMAO!..that sounds like a realy great idea, the hardest part is gonna be finding memory that can reach those speeds 1 to 1 I've seen up to 720FSB over at Xtreme Systemsfrom GSKILL at 3-5-5-10 though http://xtremesystems.org/forums/show...ghlight=ddr720

That's good to hear, from a purely aesthetic viewpoint, I like the look of the Asus board and Asus has been very good to me in the past. I'm just wondering what Abit has up there sleeve with the Nforce4 boards. They haven't even announced their SLI board yet. Maybe cuz they are an ATI card maker these days. And maybe cuz they have something up their sleeve like an NF7-S. I like bullet proof boards and Abit usually delivers that. Can't say that about DFI's earlier boards anyway. And "ricer" board or not, you gotta wonder what a Fatality branded Nforce 4 will do, and if it will be worth the cash. I'm not into benching like you guys are and I may just go with the Ultra chipset. I can't see spending a huge amount of cash for a second video card unless it's going to give me twice the performance. And it won't. Guess I'm just thinking out loud, too many decisions to make and too little info to go on at present. Think I'll take my time getting my case perfect before I jump in.

| i hate to feel like the odd one out here, but well i do, i was talking to the guy at the local computer store here and we got to talking about the Asus SLI motherboard ,and he had said that a X-Connect might not be such a good PSU for that motherboard? he had said something about the rails! now how would something that is being sold at a pretty good rate be not good for the motherboard? | AntiM If you want rock solid performance and good looks and the abitly to overclock a good ways then the ASUS A8N-N-Force 4 Ultra is a great board to get. Got features like Raid 10, firewall's on the board, self reseting CMOS, great temp. monitors, good solid stock performance and overlock performace. Its really a nice board. But if you are not into moving right now then waiting is always a good option when it comes to PC's. There is always something newer and better that comes along and waiting for more N-Force 4 manufactors like Abit and what not to enter the fray is a good idea. Although my small experience with the Abit Falitily boards proved lack luster they do have some good ideas. The main grip I had about the Intel 925 X board was that they gave you only 4 SATA and ONLY 1 IDE just like on the more "budget" minded Abit 915 chipset. Now if you look at ASUS and their top of the line models than you will see 8 SATA and 3 IDE wih Raid 5 support. Plus, the ASUS line has overclocked better allowing for a FSB of 280+ . In fact from everything I have read, and I spend hours reading reviews and promotions and what not...the ASUS line is the best overclock and packs the most features. Plus, and this is my opionion, it does not pack lots of RED LEDS on the board and it not that flashy. I like my PC case to be pimping, not my motherboard. I don't want an ugly one that is, but a board that flashes red LEDS all over my "blue" themed case would drive me nuts. Bassically the ASUS looked great and performanced great when compared to Abit's "Fatali1ty line" The real gem with the Intel line is the 915 chipset board. A little cheaper but in most cases it backed alot of the same higher end features and was geting alost the exact same overclock most of the time. I am not sure how I just side tracked some much man, I am sorry. I guess I got into the typing mood. But anything on the AMD 90 nm side is just great. I love the CPU's as they really run alot cooler than the newcastle cores and overclock much better. Plus they are dual channel and they are really beppy. AMD has done everything right and as Anandtech.com put it, "AMD is waking up the sleeping giant" Refering to Intel that is! The boards are new and although i have heard first hand of some SLI bugs I have just loved my experience with them so far. EDIT...this is for the X Connect question. What I think he may of meant was that the X Connect does not have that great of rails "stock" and when you combine it with all that horsepower and power comsuption the power it bound to go down and the rails go up above normal levels. I don't think he was directly saying this mobo is bad for that PS. I have not heard anything about it yet. Last edited by SpikeShot; 04-February-05 at 12:00 AM.. | ||

| Thanks for the reply SpikeShot, the Asus board was my first inclination. But I got time to wait a bit yet. As for the X-connect, I don't think they have a 24 pin mobo connector yet. That would make it a very bad fit with the Asus SLI. Every Nforce board I've seen so far uses the newer ATX specs...meaning 24 pin. The Via chipsets use the 20 pin. The X-connect's rail ratings are right on par with most the SLI complient psu's. I'm thinking the local computer guy is uninformed. | ||
