Question having trouble with fsb o/c need help

i have a amd 3200 xp++, with the asus k7n8x-e deluxe

its currently overclocked at 2500 mhz (12.5 x 200)
the load temp is in the lower 40c, so i want to push it more.
But everytime i increase the fsb, i'm having trouble with the
prime 95 ram test.

Does this mean i have ****ty rams and i can't o/c anymore?
The ram i'm using is ocz pc3200, so called "high performance ram".

Or is my northside bridge the source of the problem?
It runs at 30c on load, and that seems pretty hot.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I would try to lossen the ram timings up a little bit. Or maybe bump up the Vcore a tad more.. your temps are still looking fair. What kind of u cooler are you running? And maybe you should try to bump up the ram voltage up a bit to.. Try that out and get back to us.

well, i'm currently using a dangerden tdx, with black ice II radiators.
i tried increasing the voltage for the ram to 2.7v but its still seems to have
problems i also tried increase the timing.

it was 2.5 -3 -3 -3 - 7
and i changed it to 3 -4 -4 -4 -7

what do u suggest for voltage and timing?

The RAM, IMO is not what is holding you back at the moment. I have PC2700 HyperX and I can push my XP2000+ to nearly what yours is running now (2.43GHz). Try upping the voltage on your CPU to about 1.675 or 1.7 volts and see where that gets you.
Also, which line of OCZ RAM do you have exactly, that will help determine what timings you can run.
My 2.43GHz was still at 2-2-2-11, without loosening timings at all.

My current cpu voltage is at 1.75 and the ram is "DDRAM 512MB C2 PC3200 PREMIER OCZ"

Ok, maybe RAM does play in a little here, as that is not OCZ's "Premier" line of RAM even though it is called premiere. Also, it states that it only supports 2.6 volts (not that that has ever really stopped the crazy OCers) the thing I noticed off the bat is the original timings are only 2.5-3-3-7 which let me know right away that it isn't great RAM. Most PC3200 out there now that is good for OCing is in the 2-2-2-5 range, although not all at stock timings.
I am by no means the OC guru here though so you may want to wait for someone else to drop in.

Don't you just love how these companies like to play with words.
I guess this is what i get for trying to save a couple of bucks.

No for sure you are going to need a bump in the Vcore bro. dont even worry about the ram try out this

Vcore 1.83V Or as close to that as possable! I dont know what m/b you have.
Ram 2.7V at 2.5-3-3-11 also try 2.5-4-4-11If not stable.. But for sure its going to be the jump in Vcore bro.. try it out.. just WATCH your temps let us know..

increasing the vcore to 1.825v did the trick.
got a little excited and i pushed it too far.
my psu didn't have enough juice, and my raptor
drive lost power during boot. i think the drive head
didn't park before i lost power. now i got to send it back.
oh well... at least i had fun.

i only had a 1c degree change when i pushed it to 2600
should i purchase a better psu and try again?

Matt

well the motherboard boots, but my sata raptor drive makes funny clicking noises.
I'm actually using the same computer using my secondary hard drive with linux.
i never heard of a hard drive breaking because of power failure, but in my case
it seems to be the exception.

i already tried it on my roomates and its dead.

btw i'm using a silenx 400 watt psu

Is the drive recognized at all by the bios? I have the same hdd as you and have never experienced that. WesternDigital is normaly pretty good with RMA and very fast. Id maybe give it a while and then try and see if u can get it to boot.

tried it this morning, it hangs on the sata bios load up.
so i thought it might be the sata controller, and i used
my friends sata drive and it works.

Hummm Ive shut my computer off many times... Without proper shutdown.. i mean i just hit the kill switch on the PSU sometimes while in windows.. ive never ever had that problem before... Just make sure in your bios that its set to boot add on cards frist.. and make sure its on boot ON BOARD SATA..

EDIT: I did not see your above post... If its clicking and making funny noises.. Its dead.. RMA time.. and check out this cheap PSU for under 40 bucks. its the best psu out! this thing took out my antec 430 Ture power.... The rails are ROCK solid.. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...153-006&DEPA=0 ... I run this psu with everything lissted in my SIG and the rails are still ROCK solid.

Well back to overclocking,

i've successfully reached 2632 mhz (12.5 x 210),
but my windows seems less responsive what could be the cause of this?

i also have a question about my settings.
i've set the vcore at 1.825v but the actual vcore readings from the motherboard
says i'm hitting 1.904v. can i push the voltage more or should i be worried?
