Athlon XP Mobile

I've been reading about Athlons Mobile chips being used in desktops, so I was was wondering would a Mobile Xp 2600 work on a Asus A7V266 e? I know that the reg XP 2600 had a 256L2 and the Mobiles have a 512L2 would that cause a problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

Since the chipset is so outdated, it might have issues running a mobile,
if it runs, that is...I cannot tell you for sure, I'm not a big fan of VIA Chipsets.

Judging from your hardware, (Mobo and ram mainly) you aren't going to see much better performance from an XP-M unless you upgrade them along with it. They both look like limiting factors to me.
