| Apex Techie Wannabe | I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ NewCastle core, 512mb PC2700 ram, and a 256mb ATI Radeon 9600 video card, and stock cooling (im getting better air cooling soon). My question is that when i change the system bus to anything over 252 x 10 the bios will reset everything to default and give a checksom error. And at 252 x 10 it will freeze when loading Windows XP Pro. Right now its running fine at 230 * 10 and 1.6v and it is running at 33 degress celcius just with this web browser open. when i changed it to 252 * 10 i change the vcore to 1.7v. So my question is, what is limiting me here? Is it my RAM or what? Last edited by SubZero; 09-January-05 at 01:25 PM.. Reason: Forgot to add something | |

| Yea, probably your RAM.... PC2700 is designed to run on a 166 mhz FSB, so you've it running almost twice as fast as what it's designed for.. Also, you might want to consider upgrading your chipset cooling.. Right now I've got my 3000+ running at 2.3 ghz with no issue, sitting at 27°C (according to the mobo temp monitor)... I'm probably gonna try for 2.4 ghz a little later, we'll see though. | ||

Sorry, I meant did you try to change the memory divider with Easytune? Give it a shot and let us know. Also, you will have to relax your memory timings manually and not by SPD and maybe up the voltage to them as well. I am really not that saavy with AMD O/C'ing so I can't help you out too much.

it wasnt the same problem, because obviously if it was you wouldnt have had to ask another question, but instead just look at the replys.

first of all as you said in another one of your replies, this isn't YOUR thread. You wrote it but it aint yours. This is a forum theres no you cant ask a question because its my question evryones only allowed to awnser. I've been on forums before, like Devhardware forums and everyone there is very nice and helpful. Seems to be different here. (no offense to anyone else, i love this site, just this forum n00b)
