AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology is the latest from AMDs roadmap to appear in the news on the hardware and critic sites. Turion is hoped to be released mid-year for the thin and light nootebook area, one dominated by Intel, and AMD only covering 9% of the laptop market, it appears to be a vital move.
Information is still scarce on this series of chips, whether they will be anything like the 2500M, a chip which superseeded the 2500 as being one hell of an overclocker. This chip is however being completly redesigned from scratch...not a TBred rename insight. AMD has also become increasing aware of their chips thermal disadvantages in the mobile sector compared to Intels, hence the new thinking. Currently the thermal ceilings on the Mobile 64 chips are around 25 to 60 watts (apparently). The pentium M in comparison sheds a mere 20Watts. The Turion is exactly what is tackling this large problem.
There seems to be some misfortune on this account tho. AMD was expected to release details of this chip (more paper launch) about a week or so ago. Heres a plethera of linkages for your viewing plesure:
