| First off, like Dan said, we need more hardware details like motherboard, ram, power supply, and cooling. There is a bit of room in there, 2.4GHZ or more is pretty common for that CPU. Your CPU should be OK up to 1.7-1.75v with good air cooling, just watch your temps. You are going to need to bump the voltage up to the memory, 2.8v should be fine. You might need to relaxt the timings a bit too, try 3-4-4-10 at first, see how high your memory will go. Don't attempt to mess around with these settings much if you are are new to Overclocking, until you have read up a bit more, that is a decent Overclock for the moment. ![]() | ||

| I think he has a biostar motherboard, the monitoring utility looks familiar to me. Secondly, nearly 2.2GHz on a low end biostar motherboard is impressive, but to get 2.4 or even 2.5, you will need to look inot a higher quality motherboard with quite a bit more features than your current, if you have the previously mentioned motherboard. Hellzarmy, please correct me on the motherboard brand if I am incorrect, Last edited by alexkerhead; 25-December-04 at 11:40 PM.. | ||

| ya i know. its in the works now, but all my cash went into the mobo and cpu.i wish i had more so i could have gotten a 3000 cpu instead of a 2800. but oh well. all im doing is jacking my FSB up. not making any other changes yet. j just want to make sure this cooling unit is keeping things at a stable temp. so far so good. just got it up to over 2.2 now, maybe l;ater ill move the memory up. im noticing that my temp on my WC unit doesnt really go above 32 C, while the software monitor says i get up to 36c to 39 c. i would like to believe the WC unit, but i know better and should trust the software one instead Last edited by Hellzarmy; 26-December-04 at 02:30 AM.. | ||

Do you have a SATA HD?, you wont' get past 240FSB on channel one or two, you will need to use 3 or 4. With your memory, try using a Divider if it starts to hold you back as you increase the FSB, 3/4 should work to start.

no i am not running sata drives at all. just standard IDE. i AM currently at 250 FSB right now, and i havent changed any thing else.. memory, voltage or anything. like i said, i just jacked the FSB up and has been runnning stable now for about 14 hours here are links to pics. http://home.mn.rr.com/jdetherow/2500OC.bmp http://home.mn.rr.com/jdetherow/more%202500.bmp well playing around with it more. i can get it up to 270 to 275 FSB , after that she craps out on me.im not all that familiar with DFI's BIOS yet. im figuring you can change the voltage with the CPU VID option. then there is a CPU VID Special voltage option that allows you to go over. no real documentation on this. thats one thing i liked about asus boards, they had clear docs on everything. | You can a very detailed manual in PDF form from DFI's website, the manual that comes with it is very basic. Also you might want to stroll the the 64 Bit section at DFI Street http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/

| well i did hit over 2.5, but i screwed up the image and too lazy to make the changes and go back to it. i wasnt too comfortable with the settings for 2.5 iirc my HTT/FSB was at 278 with CPU voltage up close to 1.9 v but i am comfy witht his current setting as it seems stable, but so did the 2.5, but i still getting use to this mobo, and i had alarms going off in my system watcher. http://home.mn.rr.com/jdetherow/2493.bmp im pretty confident i can get this baby up to 2.6, maybe a tad higher once i get a full understanding of this mobo and such. waiting on my re-enlistement bonus and then i will buy a better CPU and a NICE video card as well as decent memory. not the $600 highend shiznit some peopel are running, but maybe some decent OCing stuff. going to upgrade my WC as well.lol, and my case... anyways, hellz out | ||
