Ok in the battle of the oversized overweight HSF where does your money lie, based on something thats quite and efficent, i want soemthing i can sleep in the same room as.

So the Zalman CNPS7000A-CU that BA just did such a fantastic review on.

OR

The Termalright Thermalright SLK-948-U running a Vantec SF9225L Stealth 92mm fan.

And are either likly to fit on my motherboard - MSI-6741 K8 AMD 64

I am a FAN (pun intended) of the zalman. As not knowing the thermal output of an A64 i cant give give you a definate yes or no. but i think you would be extremly satisfied with the performance.

Go with the Zalman. ThermalRight only PWNZ at ~50CFM+. Although Enermax 92's can do so @ 28dB, Zalman specializes in low-noise, obviously. Go for it.

Yeah think i will go for the Zalman, quite, looks great, cools well from what iv seen and its cheaper which is nice. But is there anyway to find out if it will fit, im worried those heatsinks on my MOSFETS might be an issue.

You also have to check and see if it will hang over the edge of your mother board too much, on my DFI LAN Party it would not work because it would hit my power supply. I ended up getting a Thermalright SP-97.

Here are some picks when I had it on a Shuttle AN 35N Ultra, it was a tight fight, it barely cleared the power supply(1/8 inch) because the CPU socket sits much lower on that board than on my DFI.

It looks like it will clear your stock Northbridge heat sink, a midsize case is iffy, a full size tower should have plenty of room between the P/S and board.

It'll fit - haven't met a socket 754 board it doesn't.

Now that I've got an MSI Neon Platinum though I'm waiting for the new thermalright designed for 120s because this board is designed where I could fit a 150 before hitting the PSU.

add a vote for the thermalright

if ur worried about noise and such just look for a 92 mm fan that is quiet or grab a tornado and fan controller
tornadoes may seem like much but with a fan controller u always know u have the power at hand if you should need it.

on the topic of the zalman fitting, my bud has it on that mobo and he had trouble getting it on cuz of his oversized PSU but i thnk you'll be just fine. oh and he also just switched to a thermalright because he didnt like the temps he was getting with tthe zalman. hes another tornado lover

Yeah but tornados are jsut plain loud, even at lower speeds they will always be too damm loud. I think the zalman has won this one. Oh and im curious how much would it cost you guys fro the zalman, 3.5g's of Arctic silver 5 and shipping. Costing me £54 bloody quid.
