Default OC Amd 2200+ on Abit NF7

recently tried OC my system but it getting pretty messy...
i tried OC without changing cooling system i wanna see how far i can pull it
be4 installing a new one...

my mobo is a :
AMD 2200+ @ 1833mhz ( 166x11)
256x2DDR333 A-Data, Xerox
Abit NF7 2.0 latest bios installed...
Geforce 2 GTS 32mb
Maxtor 40gb 7200 rpm x2

Well so i manage to raise the fsb from 133 to 166 but i had to reduce the multipiler to 11 from 13.5 .

i wanna get to 200 FSB at least and after i OC the bus some more than 166 it jam the windows sometimes and do problem with the memory while benchmarking the memory since it's a little bit OCed ....
when i try to raise the multipiler it won't boot .... could it be bcz of the DDR 333 ??
maybe with a better cooling will computer boot up ?
i wanted to know if there is a connection between the mem speed to how much i can oc ?

10x 4 de help

This is where raising voltages and better cooling comes in. That 2200 chip is meant to run at 133, so 166 is a pretty decent O/C. Your mem could hold you back as well. Increase those voltages and watch your temps.

guess you right 10x i'll come with some resualt later on ...
oh and btw i didnt OC the processor that much so i dont really consider this an OC

i wanna know how i can get more mhz out of it ... and does raising the mhz is better for performence than raising the bus ?

Raising the FSB will raise your total speed. When you increase the FSB and lower the multiplier, your cpu and ram communicate faster, though your CPU speed is around the same.

so what do u say speed or performence ?

lets say an extra 200mhz of speed or 33 mhz of bus ?

Definately raise the FSB. If you can, don't change the multiplier either. My Duron was originaly 13.5 X 266. It's now 13.5 X 334.

Either you copied spectrum of visa versa lol - the durons are extremly decent overclcokers - id say far better than the 2500 desktop - you can pull out 500 with the right settings on those cloaked beastys - I wonder if spectrum managed to get his cache runing in the end?

Anyway you should be able to pull a 200 mhx clock with that - cant remember hu its was, but someone recently pulled 2.2/2.3 with a 1700 - now thats definantly going for some. Just keep raising the FSB steadily and reboot to make sure is stable - run CPUz and sisandra athrithatec test to see if the processors still hanging on in there - Id recommend you try dusting off the HSF if neccisary - and get some clean air into the case.

If you really do wanna pull some decent OC, get some artic 5 under the heatsink to suck the heat off the core.
