Default Overclocking Starter

Hello everybody! My friend told me that this is a great source to get help for anything computer related, especialy modding and overclocking. So i was wanting to start a project that i would modify and overclock.

I plan on building another computer, one not as expensive as my current system, so i wont get too pissed if i burn something up. What im aiming for on this system will be an AMD Athlon 64 based pc, using water cooling.

I was wondering if anyone here could help me get started on this, as to what i should look for when buying parts and such, ive already build a computer so dont need help on that, just need help on deciding what parts i should buy because some might be easier to OC than others.

Thanks for your time fellas!

Well BBW,
first off, welcome to Pimprig...
I too am researching a64 mobos and CPUs right now...
I think your first item on the list needs to be the budget amount.
From there we can narrow the options down until you find what you are looking for...

Im thinking under $1000, should be more than reasonable, my current system was about $1500, and its top of the line parts.

This is not including the water cooling system. I saw in your gallery you had a Direct-Die waterblock. When it comes time for me to put this together, could you show me how that worked?

Welcome to PR BBW

You should budget at least $200-$250 for your water cooling. Does that $1000 include the water cooling or not?

Also, what will this machine be used for? Gaming, business, web surfing...

Welcome to PimpRig!

Consider waiting for the real A64 pin package coming out later this year,
the AMD64 now is what the Socket 423 was to the Socket 478 P4.

Along with that will be new boards with native PCI Express support,
meaning no more bandwidth limitation issues with expansion devices.

I'll be going 64-Bit then, you should wait too.
