Default Overclocking Problem

Im trying to overclock my Xp 3000+ right now i'm having to run it at 166x13 if i set it at 166x14 my games will crash. Earlier though i had it running at 200x11.5 i tried to up it to 200x12.0 and it says memory test failed and i had to reset cmos. Now i can't get over 166X13. What should i do?

System SPecs = Amd XP 3000+ ,A78nx Deluxe, 1024 Crucial, Fx 5900.

Try changing the BUS speed instead of the multiplier, and make sure you have the rite dividers.

bus speed is the key ingredient for any successfull overclock (that and zennzos' fataly crazed ideas ). Reset the bios and start form scratch, so the mobo thinks you have a duron 1000 or somthing rather tacky.

As you have a 3000 start off at standard speed and make sure thats working ok, with no real errors coming up. Increase the bus speed to 188 (that'll breech the 1.8GHz mark) and check again. While you are doing this keep the beast down to 10x multy. Then up it to 11, restart, check - this will breach 2GHz. You need to hit 2.1 to hit standard 3000 speeds and by the looks of things your hitting that.

If your having problems above this you should consider trying another chip same model, or a 2500 and see what you can hit. 3000's arent mentioned that much here, mainly 2500's and mobile 2500's, so their OC reputation doesnt seem to be that great.

If yours maxed out at 145Fsb id say that there is something really wrong with your chip because its a 166fsb chip. An you can only run it at 145??? an via chipset suck if you trying to overclock! Well they just suck anytime

What's your Vcore at? I'm running perfectly fine with a 166 bus on a KT400 with a voltage of 1.65. The proc is A 2100+ running at 2600+ speeds. Check your RAM timings, make sure they're not too tight. Check to make sure your board isn't running in "Turbo" mode.

FSB in BIOS is set to 145

145MHz x 10.5 = 1.522GHz

and no my chip is 133fsb.. I have an old XP1600+
make sense now?
