Unhappy Troubleshooting NF7-s rev 2.0

Well i had my rig running at a 236 fsb in dual channel. it was stable through a 12 hour prime95 torture and breezed through sisoft. then had the carpet cleaners come so unhooked the rig put it on my desk and came back when they were done. now i can't get it past a 200 fsb without 1.9 volts juicin through it. i had it on 1.7 volts at 200 fsb before. i dont know what happened but now have it running on stock (2500+).
Recently ive been having some harddrive slowdowns. its a 120 gb maxtor (7200 rpm). Could this be my problem? perhaps its dieing or just needs a backup made and a reformat? Cooling is not a problem as it was 30 celsius idle and 37 load.
im just trying to figure out how to get my speeds back up, today i upgraded to version 23 of the nf7-s' bios and and running the 200 fsb on 1.8 volts. im just lost on this one. any ideas of constructive help would be great.

ps. sorry for the long ass post

Supa

haha it would have been 24 of prime 95 but the prob was that i had a 15 page bio paper due the next day. lol o well, in my experience ive never seen something suddenly go unstable after 12 hours of torturing. maybe the processor gets numb.

Highperf15 - when i first booted up after the i hooked everything up it came up wit a blue screen and had a memory dump to disk thing. ive only seen that once and it was on my friends new epox. i shunned it off but next time i booted up it would not load windows fully at the overclocked settings.

i reloaded all video drivers, sound drivers, and did a repair installation of windows xp for good measure. im out of ideas but im pretty sur eit may be the hard drive. any thoughts?

Have you got a big ol heavy heat sink on the CPU?
Try to remount w/ new TIM.
Sometimes moving a case around, you can knock the H/S loose, just enough to cause a hot spot on the die...that will surley kill the O/C...

Any 2500+ should be able to run 3200+ speed at default voltage or lower, I'm suprised you'd need more. Anyway, here are some things you should do:
  • Download the Pr3ach3r NF7-S BIOS, flash your BIOS using Abit FlashMenu>Update From File>Select Pr3ach3r BIOS File (PRD18_04.BIN).
  • Make sure you have the following BIOS settings set as follows:
» User Define CPU Operating Speed: 11x200
    » FSB/DRAM Ratio: 3/3 (200MHz)
    » CPU Interface: Enabled
    » Memory Timings: Expert
    » Set Memory Timings To: CAS: 2.0/Row-Precharge: 3/RAS-to-CAS: 3/Row-Active: 11
» CPU Core Voltage: 1.7, DDR SDRAM Voltage: 2.7, Chipset Voltage: 1.6, AGP Voltage: 1.6
» Make sure CPU Disconnect under the Hardware Monitor menu is DISABLED
» Make sure System BIOS Cacheable, Video RAM Cacheable, FSB Spread Spectrum,
    and AGP Spread spectrum
under the BIOS M3NU are DISABLED

TekXoID and ZENNZZO are gods

haha alls working well now, 1.6 volts to the core runnin at 3200+ speeds. Whats the difference between that Pr3ach3r bios and the new one abit put out (version 23)?

Well im off to determine how high i can push this thing, just had it on a 6 hour prime 95 and its runnin good (i think its feral who needs 24 hours for him to be happy )

now on my current setup, ho whigh will i be able to go without my video card holding me back?

thx guys
