2500+ XP-M qeustion???

i know now that the barton 2500+'s come with locked multiplyers, someone said in these forums that they had a 2500+ xp-moblie......do these not have locked multiplyers??? or what, why would someone put it in a desktop other than it uses less power??

from what i've gathered in the forums it seems the mobile athlons aren't multiplier locked. in fact they're supposed to be that way in order to save a notebook from using up it's battery faster. i've also taken note that instead of the 333 fsb of the desktop bartons the mobiles start at 266. other than that they, as you said, use a lower voltage

they do come unlocked and they do have lower voltages allowing u to oc farther, they are great chips, i would'nt trade my xpm-2400 for anything

XP Mobiles are unlocked, start at 266 FSB (but 400 FSB as easily as the reg ones) and default to like 1.45 volts instead of 1.65 yet they can still take a bit over 2 volts. Most hit 2.6ghz min and with high qual cooling hit 2.7-2.8ghz. Some even touch 3.0...

Other than the choicest selection from the wafer, to run at lower voltages and withstand higher temps, being unlocked, and being a O/C'ers sexy Prom date? nuttin'....

Best CPU under 100$ hands down, anyone that buys a regular AMD CPU is a FOOL!

They are available in speeds from XP2000+ for 60$ to the 2600+ at 99$ HERE

Here is another 2500+ Mobile ..with a twist

It's running at nearly double the stock 266 FSB...with 526FSB I'm getting 3.8GB/s memory bandwidth on Sandra with DDR500 at 3-4-4-8 and a STOCK DFI Lan Party

For comparisons sake, at 333FSB my Kingston HyperX using CAS 2-2-2-5 only gets 2.4GB/s

Bandwidth Envy?

J/K..I think 4GB/s would be in reach with some PC4200-PC4400 and better NB cooling, The Geil Platinum just won't pass Mem test at 530FSB no matter what timings or voltage I throw at it ..

EDIT: Just found a passing Mem test Pic, I remember now... I suspect the board was at the limits of the stock NB cooling, it would lock up after an hour or so of Folding

I would keep the 2500 ya have, if I remember right it has the kick-ass steppings, and is a good O/Cer...Try to sell that stick of RAM ya got and get you a set of 2 x 256 pc4000 and you'll prolly hit that high fsb at 1:1 synce...You can always use fast ram in the future a64 system you, like the rest of us, will have soon enough...

o i wasnt gonna get rid of it. HELL NO, haha i was just saying the 2500+'s kick soo much a$$, so when i make a 2nd system, i want another 2500+ but witout it being locked (i.e. 2500+ xp-m)
would u suggest selling it to ppl on here or what??

there unlocked - helps the laptop to underclock when theres nothing going on and 'full' clock when somthing is going on. Lower voltage for baterry saving obviously. All in all neat little package.
