Possible to OC using FSB Only?

I've got a Soyo K7VMP2 mobo, 256MB PC2100 RAM, and an Athlon XP 2400 CPU in a bundle deal really cheap. The BIOS doesn't have any overclocking options but the board can run at 333MHz FSB. Would it be possible to overclock the CPU and RAM by only changing the FSB to 333Mhz?

Actually you would want to do it in increments of 5 MHz, then if it locks up or dies drop it 1 MHz until you find that 'sweet spot'. On my Gateway mod it's 153MHz (from 133)

Usually if you are doing an FSB OC you will be lucky to get 20 MHz FSB out of it without raising the VCore.

Overclocking is overclocking, don't matter if it's 2 MHz or 2 GHz. Limit's were meant to be broken. If that wern't the case, man would have never made it to the Moon.

I got my 2400+ to get into windows at 2500MHz (15x133@166) but its only perfectly stable at 2325MHz. But I still got more tweaking to dom it would be nice to have a 2400+ running 2400MHz

As I recall, lcpiper was always a strong advocate of FSB overlocking regardless of multiplier.

BTW, anyone heard from him lately?

TYCOON, I would drop the multi and go for more FSB-that's where you really find performance on AMDs...

on my amd 2000+(1.6ghz) i put the fsb up to the max 165(2.06ghz) and upted the voltage to +75mv and it runs fine has never crashed the thing that sucks is thats the max, the multi is alredy at 12.5x
