Default 3200 oc on air?

ive got my 3200+ (2.0ghz) running at 2.3ghz at 1.55v, my ram is at 2.6v and my agp is at 1.7 my video card is running 357/558. my fsb is 230mhz. everything appears to be stable.

heres my question: my cpu temp hovers around 31-32C(im using a zalman 7000cu). how high do you think i could/should overclock in this situation? im terribly afraid of screwing something up.

go to www.xtremesystems.org and look up your chip. Some of the OCs will astound you.

your good man, got some more temp room if you want. You can push it further if it will go, maybe 2400mhz

i think im gonna try for 2400 today, doin that on air would be sick. i think its my gigabyte mobo, that thing has some insane power stability, i think the dual power system really helps the stability.
anyways, anybody have any idea what a good max operating temp for these processors is? i dont want to go too high

Dude, you're not even NEAR the max operating temperature of that CPU. According to this AMD whitepaper, the max temperature for the 3200+ is 70*C. You've got lots of thermal headroom, but keep an eye on it...I'd keep it under 60*C - the higher the temperature, the shorter the lifespan of the CPU.

i dont think it likes the 1.6vcore, it kept restarting on me. i tried 2300 at 1.55, didnt work. i tried 2400 at 1.6. didnt work. i tried 2300 at 1.6. didnt work. should i be going higher?

edit: i just hit 2300mhz at 1.55vcore, 2340 wouldnt load windows, and when i go to 1.6vcore it keeps restarting. btw, its idle at 27*C

just leave it like that for a while then run sandra's burn in wizard over night, might be able to hit higher mhz with burn in.

I'd crank the voltage on the memory as high as she'll go, then try again.

I'd leave timings stock until you're stable at the FSB you want. Then start tightening the timings. It's best to only change one thing at a time so you can be sure of the effect that change has made.

i set it to 2.7v on the ram, and i managed to get 230fsb (2300mhz). 240 was too much, even with a 1.6vcore.

Is that an unlocked CPU? If so, raise the Multiplier and drop your FSB.
I would try 12x200FSB and go up on the FSB from there.
If you have a good core CPU, you can get 2.4-2.5GHZ with 1.8v or less to the CPU on air cooling.

If the Multiplier is locked, then you might be at the limits of the board or memory, You might need to upgrade the memory to some PC3700 or better to get more out of it, assuming you haven't maxed out your board.

Or, you may have just hit the wall for your CPU, My friends Barton 2500+ does not seem to like to run over 2.3GHZ either with water cooling.
