| I just decided to OC my budget rig that I built this month. I never did it before so I did a quick google and came up with some info subsequently finding you pc putas. Here's what I got: Windows XP PRO (Ubuntu + NetBSD) ASUS K8N AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ (Venice) ~2.2 GHz (Socket 754) Kingston HyperX 1 Gig PC3200 200 MHz (x2) Kingston 512 Meg PC3200 133 MHz 512MHz (256 FB) nVidia GeForce 6800XT GPU AGP RAZER Barracuda AC-1 7.1 Channels 24-bit PCI Western Digital 40G drive LG LiteScribe Burner I got the MB and Case off ebay and the processor from PriceGrabber a few months back and asssembled it with scavenged parts I had around, Namely my roomates extra PSU and the memory from my Via Epia MII12000 that died. I then used my ol Dell monitor and the onboard audio/video and threw in my CarPC laptop drive and voilaI had a useable PC I moved and this month upgraded the thing partially I ordered 3 gigs of Kingstons HyperX DDR400 (waiting on one), the video and sound cards. the DVD burner and a couple nifty LED case fans and is now running through my surround sound and LCD tv. I till have to order the 1TB internal drive and 500G WD external. So thats the hardware so far.... | ||

| Here's what I did: I went into the BIOS and set the Multiplier down to 10.5 and increased the processor to 255 mhz. It's run stable there so far. It wouldn't boot at 260, even with a little more voltage (1.6v), and it hung up at 258 while playing civ 4 (the most demanding software i run). So this seems stable enough for the light duty I do. Core Speed: 2678 MHz Multiplier: x10.5 Bus Speed: 255 MHz HT Link: 1020 MHz Voltage: 1.44 V (Set @1.5) DRAM Freq: 167.4 MHz (Due to the 512 in there till the last 1g comes in) CL: 3 tRCD: 3 tRP: 3 Cycle Time: 6 Bank Cycle: 8 DRAm Idle: 16 Looking around it doesn't look like the CPU will go up much. I didn't mess with the memory indepentdently yet since I have yet to get my last stick from NewEgg. Any recommendations on what to do once thatstick of ram gets in as far as timing or OC'ing the cpu/ram | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | My experience with HT speeds is that they are not very flexible. 260mhz for the system bus is pretty fast, but there's a chance you could get it a little bit higher by lowering the HT multiplier. You probably already know this, but running an athlon 64 system with more than 2 sticks of ram isn't the best for performance. If your particular chip can handle it, great, but odds are it's going to limit your clocks, especially on the ram. | |

you probably get a good overclock with this board but single channel memory's s*cks! i would just tried to find an socket 939 with nf4 with a good cpu on ebay much better then socket 754 (single channel only) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
