can someone explain ram timings?

ive seen people talking about getting amazing timings and posting some numbers (2-2-3-6 or w/e) and im just having trouble understanding how it works and what the numbers mean. can someone clear this up? thanks

basically lower numbers will give you faster access and transfer times. You can learn alot about all the bios settings at http://www.rojakpot.com/ . Go to the Bios Opt. Guide.
