AMD really isn't where the performance is these days. That graphics card is a poor choice as well. Have you bought all the parts already or is that a shopping list?

Ok so you say the video is bad choice but you dont give any reason care to explain
and as far as the AMD x2 3800 it was a good chip in its day also rather give somthing old a try at overclocking as have never done it before to get the hang of it

Also quick question when i got the motherboard the retention bracket was not on it the bottom piece was but not the top piece now i have a dead dfi board with the bracket on it i took it off that board do you think it will work or should i wait for the one from Asus that i have ben waiting for for a week and a half

It only has a 128-bit memory bus and 36 stream processors. Hence it gets destroyed in most modern games. For another $60 you could have had a Radeon HD3850 which is twice as fast.

But meh, it depends what you like playing and how much you game. Should be fine for a bit of World of Warcraft if that's your thing.

Thankyou for explaining your situation more - if it's a first shot at overclocking you're better off using an older, cheaper chip incase you fry anything. There's a wealth of A64 overclocking knowledge here so just ask if you need it.

Pretty nice for a first build
Better than my first try
In my opinion, it would look a tad bit nicer if you could put the CC behind that bar and out of sight. But thats just my opinion.
It wouldnt hurt to throw some paint on the chasis... except maybe your warranty
I was impressed by your tidy wires. Props to ya

What sort of temps should I be looking at with this setup idle and such right now idle temps are 34c to 35c thats with heatsink at full tilt with it turned down 37c to 38c would they be normal for a AMD system With the 9700 full tilt it is a litttle loud and thats why I am thiking of changing it to something else 78.00 dollars I paid for noise LOL

Alos should I have the quiet and cool enabled in my bios just wondering if that makes any difference

A 4200+ X2 for $63 is an amazing deal to me :/

Once again, I tried and E6400, and it wasn't faster than my Opty 148. I still don't understand this whole dual core thingy

I guess. The E6400 even had a gig more ram than my Opty.

It gave me better benchmark scores, but no real-time performance gains.

because it was faulty it was a and instal this one Zalman CNPS-9700NT For Socket AMD AM2/939/754 & Intel LGA775 the only real difference is this one is green but hey this one works and keeps temps down nice and low
