Ok guys here is a real newbie question. What is the highest OC That anyone has done safely with an AMD 3500+? What multiplier is that? I know the answer to this depends on alot of different variables. Im running a Collermaster mars for a heatsink too. Also What temperature is too high for a CPU like this? Around what temp should I start to worry?

When i had my 3500+ the highest stable oc i had was 2.7ghz fsb of 272 and mult 10 i don't remember the voltage i think 1.43 not sure. it was getting into the 50c so i didn't think that the proformance increase was worth the heat. so instead i ran it at 2.5gh daily 250 fsb and mult 10 and the HT thing at 3x.i was using a TT venus 12 to cool it.

My AM2 3500+ could run @ 3GHz for things like SuperPi. Stable 24/7 was 2.85GHz. 285x10.

you can keep you cpu at 50c more or less (full load) & volatge not more than 1.6v with good cooling you can go higher in voltage but i would do that only for benchmars otherwise keep it anything between stock voltage to max of 1.6v

my 3000+ is running @2.5 , 1.550v 24/7 air cooling my temps are 29-31c idle & about 46c on full

In a Titan Robela case, (see PCApex reviews) using the case cooling system, i had one in a Epox board running 2.7GHz stable for halflife 2 to play a lan for four hours, thatwas with no memory divided and overly expensive ram, lots of variables, i'm sure though, that a easy 2.4-2.6GHz could be done. But the record would be....

Currently im at 2.4 from 2.25 on the clawhammer core. Heat is a factor cause i have an accrilic case even with my Rosewill heatsink and 5 case fans. if anybody has any ideas how do get faster and still be stable please tell i tried to go to 2.5 and it wouldn't load windows

probably need to up the voltage for it to be stable. That may be as far as you can go if you are having heat issues. Too little info to say much else.

There are many fine points to deal with when you Overclock..things like HTT speed (Try 3x or 4x
instead of the stock 5x)is one of those settings most peole don't mess with or understand when playing with AMD-64.


You should probably start a new thread on it...

A few other settings that often need to be adjusted are typically voltage related...CPU, Ram and NB, and HTT if you have the option.

Without getting into much detail, just bump them up one notch above stock for now, and see if that helps...we can help you with more specifics in your own thread.

Be sure to list all the important hardware (Mobo, CPU, Ram, Video Card Power supply)Your current Bios settings...CPUZ screenshots and pics of load temps are most helpfull too!
