It all depends on how many players you have.. and how much traffic your using.. 100base is generally fine for large lans as long as your using some decent switches like Dell Power Connects or such.. Managed it nice...

Gigabit will be something you will want if have a lot of ppl sharing files across the network.. that is the main issue that would prompt a move to gigabit networks...
