Early this week DS started the discussion of anime's he's been recently invovled in, now it's my
turn to steal the lime light and put my list of recent anime's up on the choping block. So here we go:
Gundam Seed: Destiny - Starting off with what is the sequel to my favorite anime series, Gundam Seed: Destiny has been a very good sequel so far (on episode 45 of 50). I would only recommend this series to those who have seen Gundam Seed. A majority of the story line and character backgrounds spawn or continue from events that happened in Seed. So without seeing Seed you'll be lost in why the Archangel and Freedom are recognized symbols, and why Kira Yamato is 10x better than anyone else. And I'd say that if you've seen Gundam Seed you're definitely feeding for more Seed - and here it is.
Expect to see new characters and a bunch of returning characters. Spectactular Gundam battle scenes are still there along with huge fleet battles...hope you're thirsty for some big explosions. And in usual Seed fasion, the war continues off of the battle field as characters wage war against their morals, beliefs, and inner selves. Can't have a Gundam Seed sequel without having a character cry in every episode.
Anyways, if you've seen Gundam Seed then there is no reason not to follow it up with Gundam Seed: Destiny. And if you haven't seen Gundam seed then just click the little x button in the top right hand corner and start knocking out the 50 episodes.
Samurai 7 - This one was an interesting anime. Had no idea what it was about going into it, saw the trailer with Samurai-like figures fighting giant robots and decided it couldn't be half bad. Boy was I delighted when I found a gem of an anime in Samurai 7.
The basic plot revolves around a rice village who are bullied by bandits for their women, children, and more importantly...their rice harvest. So what's a little village to do? Do what
I would do, and hire some samurai. The story follows the villages recruitment of these samurai, their battle against the bandits, and an even mightier enemy.
What I enjoyed about this series was the constant character conflicts and growth. Seven completely unique individuals come together and learn to work as a team for the greater good. And the whole "Samurai way" is kicked around a bit too.
And finally...
My-Hime - Haven't finished this yet, but I'm planning to before the end of summer. It's a fun little anime with a bit of drama mixed in with a magical school girl theme.
Girls with magical powers, called Hime, attend Fuka Academy. The story takes you along their fights against mysterious monsters and an "organization". The first two or three episodes do a good job in introducing the main players and the Fuka Academy. Along the way you'll be introduced to other staff members who get invovled and other girls classified as Hime.
Anime looks promising, and I'm looking forward to learning a bit more about the characters, Hime powers, and what all the fighting is about.
It's all about magical girl powers...
Anyways that's my little wrap up for now. Feel free to add in any recent anime you watched and would recommend...or dare I say...not recommend. Getting ready to drive to the Beach for the next week, so I'll see you guys in about two weeks!
