I know you can transfer pictures from your compact flash card to your zen and you can use a adapter and use it with other cards too.

Is that what you meant by USB host? You cant just hook up anything thats USB though, it doesn't even show up on my mac as a drive.

It might work if you find some kind of USB to compact flash thing but im not sure.
