Default Monitor Ghosting??

Alrighty, I bit the bullet and purchased a monitor switcher the other day so I can have my pc and xbox360 hooked to the same monitor so I wouldn't have to keep rummaging under my desk to switch them out.

However, I get horrible ghosting effects now on my PC monitor.

The 360's picture is flawless, a little washed out, but thats just because I really can't change anything on my monitor (still have to mess with brightness and contrast there..).

My questions are...

Is this a cause of the cable (i have 3 of them, two are horrendously ugly, the other not so bad but still noticeable) being 'bad'?

Is this going to happen regardless of what cable I use, meaning will me lengthening the distance between the PC and the monitor cause ghosting effects just because of the added cable distance?

or could it be just because I got a cheap monitor switcher?

If its just a cable issue, what then could I look for in a VGA cable that could alleviate the ghosting problem? All the cables I have are missing 'pins' in them which I always thought was pretty normal sine there wern't any 'places/holes' for the pins. Would a male-to-male VGA/DVI cable work better? (i have a PNY 6800GT with a DVI input slot...)

As always, thanks in advanced everyone!
