| | Coolermaster Jet 7+ Sorry for the lack of pictures but I wrote the review after installing the HS & Fan Just to let everyone know.. This is a Jet 7+ not a Jet 7, the difference being that the Jet 7+ is made of 100% Copper whilst the Jet 7 is made mostly of aluminium. --------------- ~~~ Packaging & condition ~~~
When I first saw it, 2 things came to my mind at once:-
1. "Damn that looks good!"
2. "Wow that is one huge cooler"
I thought it was rather well packed, It showed off the cooler well and would be hard to break anything throughout shipping so If your ordering one of these I think it would arrive it perfect condition.
The base of the heatsink was rather well finished but of course lapping would make for a better surface, something I didn't bother with for reference in this review

~~~Installation ~~~
Installing this was extremely easy as opposed to the stock coolers and many other retail coolers.
The need for kitchen utensils and a steady hand is something you won't need when installing this cooler. The retaining clip has a 3 point connector and a push-down lever to maximize stability and ease installation.
It took me approximately 5 seconds to clip this Cooler in and out. As opposed to 30 minutes with my old 1800+ stock cooler (and a stabbed motherboard)
~~~ Extra Features ~~~
The Jet 7+ comes with some extra things that is worth mentioning here:-
Installation Guide
Fan Speed Controller
3.5" Port Bracket for fan controller
PCI Port Bracket for fan controller
Thermal Paste
The fan controller is really a useful feature that many people couldn't do without.
when running at low speed.. Which on my rig was 2580RPM the sound was almost inaudible, All I could hear from my case were my 80mm fans and Hard drives being accessed.
However running at high speed of 3780RPM the cooler generated a lot of noise which I wouldn't like to have 24/7.
---------------
~~~ Performance ~~~
Sadly I don't have anything to compare the temperatures with but I can tell you what I was running at.
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
IDLE LOW : 46c
IDLE HIGH : 43c
I'll update it with my overclocking results soon.
---------------
~~~ Pros and Cons ~~~
The Pros:-
Stylish Design
Well Packaged
Fan Controller
Runs silent at low
Reasonably Priced
The Cons:-
Extremely noisy at high
Above AMD's recommended weight for a Cooler
Size - Stands in at around 12CMs tall |
