Introduction:
My previous generic optical mouse decided to call it quits during my gaming session, resulting in a bruised ego for me, so I asked my dad to pick up a MX 310 for me while he was at Staples. Costs rougly $30 there.
First Looks:
Arrives in a retail pack, fairly straight forward, nothing tacky or anything. The box has the mouse, USB to PS/2 convertor, manual and driver disk.
Specs/Features:
Image Processing: 4.7 megapixels/sec
Resolution: 800 dpi
Acceleration: 10g
Speed: 40 inches/sec
Installation:
Yeah, I plugged it in via USB. It was extremely simple, but if your a n00b, you may need to read the manual. I didn't install the drivers, infact, I didn't open the manual/CD package. Windows XP Pro immediately recognized the device and installed all the necessary drivers.
The Mouse:
The mouse looks pretty cool, black and silver. Has 6 buttons, the 2 standard buttons, scroll button, 1 application switcher button (like Alt+Tab) and 2 side buttons for internet navigation. The "Alt+Tab button" is right under the scroll, and not something I'll use very often, but it'll be nice for some people. The internet navigation buttons are what made me look at this mouse. Very convenient. Work perfectly in Opera 7.5.
Conclusion:
First off, I would like to thank my Dad for buying this for me. The mouse isn't as good as the MX500, but it's a nice low cost alternative. For me, I go through a mouse every 4-5 months, so it's not a big deal replacing this.
