Naturally, you're going to need Wiimotes + Joysticks which come to 55$ a pair, retail. But T2 can probably find a better deal. Classic controllers are nice if you plan on buying games from the virtual console.

As for current games, I would say Wii Play (more mini games) is a good choice for kids, along with Mario Sluggers (coming out in the future), then there is Mario Strikers which is a decent game. But hands down the best game on there right now is Super Smash Brothers brawl (Great for adults and kids)

as for SD cards, I have a 2GB in mine, and I hardly use it. I've got one replay on there, and... thats it.
