Default I find your lack of faith disturbing...

After just seeing that Yoda and Darth Vader are going to be in the new Soul Caliber game, it brings up a few points in my head.

In the world of fighting games, titles like Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, and of course Soul Caliber reign supreme. Yeah we’ve seen Hadoukens, swinging blades, kicks to the head, and all sorts of characters and combat. But one thing I’ve rarely seen, or rather seen only once is a Star Wars fighting game (The Episode II game does not count*). The one game is Masters of Teräs Käsi. This game wasn’t even that great with its bludgeon like lightsaber combat (or lack of lightsaber combat if you will). By the by, I haven’t seen any really GREAT Star Wars titles in a while.

But I digress, with only one Star Wars fighting game on the market, see great untapped potential I do. I think they really could put out a truly good 2D or 3D game.

While we’re on the topic of Fighting games, Street Fighter IV is also being release in the new future. Right now they’re on the path I think Mortal Kombat should’ve taken: 2D fighting platform with 3D art. Nothing beats a good Hadouken or Freezebolt.

So what do you think? Should there be more Star Wars fighting games? What would you like to see? More fighting titles in general? Should current fighters on the market take another direction?

Till next time,
Hadouken out!

*Episode II does not count; more as a adventure/movie game; not enough characters, needs Darth Maul, Fett, Solo.
