Reuters (India) is reporting that Sony has promised 380 games for the PS3 by March 2008.

Quote: TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp. said on Thursday it expects about 380 new PlayStation 3 titles to become available in the business year to March 2008, on top of more than 100 titles currently on the market. Of the total, some 200 will be packaged software, while the remaining 180 titles are expected to be downloadable via the Internet, Sony Chief Executive Howard Stringer said at the company's general shareholders' meeting.

Two things strike me immediately about this:

1. There are only nine months between now and March 2008. That's an average of 42.2 games per month for the PS3 between now and next March. I guess that means the software drought is over.

2. I wonder if that figure was ever 360 and Sony decided to pad it with 20 other games so as to avoid the potential for embarrassment?
