I might even be tempted to spend money on the LED or UV Sonic Screwdriver and mod that one. Depending on if I could get one where the IR transmitter is small enough to fit into one. And I think I would need a second transmitter or other failsafe. In the end it’s always the lack of failsafe that makes good plans go wrong.
